Chicken and Dumplings

This is an easy recipe for old fashioned chicken and dumplings.  These are not the fluffy round dumplings, but flatter ones.  My grandmother used to make chicken and dumplings something like this.

Chicken and Dumplings

Ingredients

4 chicken breasts (boneless)
1 can cream of chicken soup
3 cups Bisquick
salt and pepper to taste
3/4 -1 cup water

Directions

Place chicken breasts in a large saucepan.  Cover with water.  Add salt and pepper.  Cook until chicken is done.  Take chicken out of broth.  Add soup to broth and add 1 cup water if it looks like it needs more liquid.  Bring to boil.

Dumplings
Add water to Bisquick to make a dough you can roll out.  Roll thin, cut in strips and break off in small pieces into boiling broth.  Let cook about 5 minutes.

Stir and put chicken back in on top of dumplings.  Turn to low and cover.  Simmer for 15-20 minutes before serving.
