Ginger Snaps

The usual ginger snap cookie recipe.  Not ginger root or crystallized ginger in this one.  Still a tasty cookie, good with coffee or milk.

Ginger Snaps

Ingredients

3/4 cup butter or shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda

Directions

Melt butter/shortening in small pan.  Add sugar molasses and egg.  Beat.

Sift together flour, spices, baking soda and baking powder.  Add to first mixture.

Chill.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Form in ball and dip in sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
